Oxadiazon is tein Wirkstoff zum Pflanzenschutz und eine chemische Verbindung aus der Gruppe der Oxadiazole.
Gewinnung und Darstellung
Oxadiazon kann durch Reaktion von 1,2,4,5-Tetrachlorbenzol mit Isopropanol, Hydrazin, Pivaloylchlorid und Phosgen gewonnen werden.
Alternativ kann es durch Reaktion von 2,4-Dichlor-5-isopropoxyphenylhydrazin mit Trimethylacetylchlorid und anschließende Reaktion mit Phosgen gewonnen werden.
EigenschaftenOxadiazon ist ein Feststoff, der praktisch unlöslich in Wasser ist.
Verwendung
Oxadiazon wird als Vorauflauf- und Nachauflaufherbizid verwendet. Es wird vor allem bei Baumwolle, Reis, Soja und Sonnenblumen eingesetzt und wirkt durch Hemmung der Protoporphyrinogen-Oxidase (PPO).

Stability: Solubility in water 0.7mg/L, and in methyl or ethyl is 100g/l; In cyclohexane is 200g/l; In acetone is 600g/l; In benzene, chloroform, dimethyl benzene is 1000g/l.
Toxicity: Oral LD50 8000 mg/kg, dermal LD50 ( rabbits) is greater than 8000 mg/kg, acute in halation LC50>200mg/l. Subacute toxicity (rat): No effect level is 1000mg/kg/d, Chronic toxicity to rat no effect level is 25mg/kg/d; Dog is 15mg/kg/d.

Uses: Oxadiazon is a selective, peremergent herbicide for control of many annual grasses and broadleaf weeds in turf and on a wide variety of woody ornamental shrubs, vines and trees. It controls weeds by killin the young weed seedlings as they come in contact with herbicide during germination.
